Part of my of Blue Planet series.

This series looks to highlight the fragility of our planet and the lives that call it home. Each piece is a reminder that Earth itself is a living breathing thing that must be protected.

For my second artwork in this series I wanted to build on the ideas of THE ANCHOVY MARBLE  and construct a whole globe from a shoal of fish.

The shoal was manipulated to create the illusion of a tight sphere, spinning on an axis.

By manipulating the colours of the fish I could suggest the forms of the continents, driving home the relationship between each small seemingly insignificant creature and the planet as a whole.

The use of bubbles to represent the stars and planets further explores this concept. The obviously tiny and fragile oxygen bubbles replace the enormous and seemingly indestructable stars and planets, yet both are equally precious elements that make up our universe.
